Abstract :
This research has been done for the purpose that it will reveal the misunderstandings of concept of granular structure of the substances. For this purpose concept test of granular structure of substances. This test, in the 20011-2012 education year, was applied to 31 students who had taken the course of the granular structure ıf substances in 6th grade. The results of analysis of the data received from the application determined the students’ misunderstandings of the concept of the granular structure of the substances. It pointed out that the students have not only appropriate knowledge appropriate to the scientific facts but also inappropriate to the scientific facts. It also pointed out that the students have the misunderstanding that the substances will lose the specialty of being a substance as the substances get smaller. When the students are asked to draw the solid, liquid and gas substances, the liquid form was mostly drawn in a wrong way. The students had the ability to animate the distances between the liquid particulars, but they had a difficulty in expressing it drawing. In this context, the teacher should be aware of the students’ probable misunderstandings and may use conceptional exchange texts, maps of concepts, and computer supported educational possibilities in order to defeat these misunderstandings
