NERGISÎ’S TURKISH GHAZELS IN POEM MACMUASAND AN EVALUATION ON THESE GHAZELS

Mehmed Nergisî was born in Sarajevo. Having used the names Nergisî-zâde, Nergis-zâde because of his family‟s appellation, he had his actual fame with the name Nergisî. He came to Istanbul from Sarajevo, and pay homage to Kaf-zâde Feyzullah Efendi. Mostly known as munshi and being the only person having a prose hamsa in our literature, Nergisî is a poet whose name takes place in tazkiras. In some sources it is expressed that he also has a diwan. There are Turkish, Persian and Arabic poems in Nergisî‟s prose works. In poetry macmuas qasidas, ghazels, terkib-i bent and some written poems registered to the name of Nergisî take place. Some of these poems also takes place in Nergisî‟s prose works. We have detected 18 ghazels of Nergisî in poem macmuas in our search. Some couplets of these ghazels takes place in Nergisî s own prose works and tazkiras. These ghazels are very important in terms of reflection of Nergisî s poet direction who is a multi-faceted person. In this study, it will be focused on Nergisî‟s poetic talent and the structural features and meaning of these ghazals will be discussed and will be given the transcriptions of 18 ghazels.
