Title Of Article :
VON WRIGHT ON EXPLANATION AND UNDERSTANDING
Abstract :
In this article, I focus on von Wright s presenting the logic of conditionship, even though it is neglected in the field of logic, as a powerful instrument allowing formal investigation of factual relations. In this context, I propose a new symbolism regarding the logic of conditionship. Examples are taken into account of how the logic of conditionship is implemented on causal explanation and on the field of human actions. It is demonstrated, how a model this formal logical approach produces for acts of understanding and of explaining in the field of human sciences. Finally, there is a discussion on shortcomings and inadequacies of this formal logic approach, from the perspective of narrativity approach, which is Ricoeur s approach on historical understanding.
