Abstract
Wit is the product of a deep understanding and intelligence. This characteristic is not found in all artists. In addition, the feature which is called character distinguishes people from each other. Some artists have a right to gain a seat in their environments with their characters. Süleyman Nazif and Mehmet Akif, who were friends and shared the same period of the literature history, have similar features in terms of characters, wit and quick wit. In this study, common characteristics between these two poets, similarities of quick wit in front of events and the similarities in terms of witticism will be examined.
