UPON THE PROVERBS AND IDIOMS THAT ARE MENTİONED İN THE DİVANPOETRY OF SAİD PASHA

Said Pasha is one of the most important names that is brought in Diyarbakır in the nineteenth century. He was an intellectual who is known for his literacy and poetry besides his personality as historian and statesmanship. His close friend Ali Emiri, who is a prominent name of both the Diyarbakır and Turkısh lıterature, frequently expressed this in history and literatur journal. Ali Emiri very respected Said Pasha’s personality and gave place to many poems in his journal and wrote nazires after Said Pasha’s poems. Even though the poetry of Said Pasha remained in the shadow of his personality of man of letters and statesmanship, the poems of his Divan are an evidence of his solid, friendly and sincere literary style. His Divan contains in total 193 poem. His poems have a general air of wisdom and philosophy. In addition, love, social affairs and Said Pasha’s many advices are seen as subjects of his poems. Besides that, he frequently referred to proverbs and ıdıoms and he used them in his poems. Starting from this, proverbs and ıdıoms in the Divan of Said Pasha are discoursed in this study and where shown with examples.
