Abstract
Qoran has either eternalized or restructured some traditions of its environment and re-pealed some others. This condition is also valid for the concepts used by Koran. One of the concepts involved by Koran and presented as a message to ages is “Îlâf” that is mentioned in the Surah of Kuraish. Even though “Îlâf” is an agreement determining the commercial relations of the pre-İslâmic age of ignorance; the interpretations mainly give the literal meaning, which causes the obstruction of comprehending the meaning and the weakening and even evaporation of the meaning. Thus, this article presents the necessity of giving the meaning of “îlâf” based on the “agreement” rather than the literal aspect.
