THE MUNSAAT S AS A GUIDING BOOK FOR CLERKS
Abstract :
The letters which Hz. Muhammed sent to the rulers of neighboring countries play a significant role in the formation of prose. The clerks had been assigned to write these letters. Clerkship was evaluated as a very honorable duty in the early years of Islam. As bureaucratic correspondence eventually started to be institutionalized, the clerkship also became the part of this inevitable process. With the institutionalization of clerkship, thereafter clerks should have met various requirements and the points to consider, literary composition, and the customs of clerkship had been discussed in the journals.This article discusses the terms such as; prose, literary composition, munşi, clerk, writer and it tries to suggest that the journals had been significant guide for the clerks on the criteria of literary composition and the customs of clerkship.
