The Attitudes of Elementary Science and Technology Students Educated Based on the Curriculum in Effect before and After The 2005 Program Change
Abstract :
This descriptive study was carried out to determine the attitudes of the elementary Science and Technology students from 5 through 8 in the academic year of 2006-2007. The purpose of the study was to find out the attitude levels of students from grades 5 to 8 regarding the science and technology curricula which were in place before and after 2005. This study was administered to 205 students, in which grades 5-6 were taught based on the constructivist science curricula while grades 7- 8 were taught according to the program in effect prior to 2005. The results showed that there is no meaningful difference in general but in particular 5 and 6 graders seemed to like the course more. There is a similar range among groups regarding the negative attitudes. This might be due to the lack of experience on part of teachers regarding the new constructivist curricula.
