Mathematics Prospective Teachers Approaches towards the Distance Education System Used for the Department Courses
Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine and examine mathematics prospective teachers’ approaches towards the distance education system applied to the courses in their department. For this purpose, mathematics prospective teachers were asked to use the distance education system in the education process by conducting web-based applications via the Moodle system. In the study, the survey method was used. The study was carried out with 102 prospective teachers. As a result of the research process, no significant difference was found regarding the participants’ attitudes towards distance education with respect to such variables as gender, their department and the way of teaching the lessons. The prospective teachers reported that distance education could be used to overcome the deficiency in the physical conditions of educational institutions and that they did not have any idea about whether distance education should be given only in higher education institutions.
