Pre-Service Primary Teachers’ Views on A Method Called Bio-Lab-Web (BLW) in Introductory Biology Laboratory Course and Its Effectiveness
Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to examining the effectiveness of BIO-LAB-WEB (BLW) Method which developed by the researchers and to reveal Pre-Service Primary Teachers’ Views. The application was made in the spring semester of 2009-2010 academic years. The subjects for the study comprised of a total of 44 Pre-Service Science and Technology Candidate Teachers. They were divided into two groups and one of them (N=22) was assigned as the experimental group, while the other was chosen as the control group (N=22). While BLW Method was used in experimental group, traditional laboratory method was used in control group. It is concluded that BLW Method has some characteristics, positive and negative roles as compared with traditional laboratory method. In addition BLW Method constructed an environment in the biology laboratory in which candidate teachers used a cycle including involvement, desiring, and ownership.
