  • Abstract
    The aim of this study was to investigate effect of activities based on constructivists learning approach on 6th grade gifted students’ understanding levels and alternative conceptions concerning melting and freezing. In this study, action research method was used. A material consisting of three activities appropriate to 5E model based on constructivist approach were developed. The material was applied to 23 gifted-students enrolled at Ordu Science and Arts Center. The application lasted for two class hours. The data of this study was gathered by using a test with two sections, semi-structured interviews and informal classroom observations. The test and interviews were applied to the students before and after the treatment. The interviews were individually conducted with 23 students and tape recorded. The results showed that the activities based on 5E Model increased gifted students’ levels of understanding and corrected many of their alternative conceptions.
