Abstract :
From the spread of Islam in Diyarbakir, on the one hand the Islamic madrassas opening, on the other hand, especially the Assyrian schools, educational institutions belonging to other communities continued education. Over time, this school was added to the new ones. In particular, since the second half of 19 th century, increased the number of the Assyrian-Chaldean schools and schools in other community. In addition, under the auspices of the American, a large number of Protestant schools that Assyrian children will continue have been opened. In this study, in the Province of Diyarbakir (Diyarbakir, Ergani Madeni and Mardin banners), from the second half of the 19th century opened, the Assyrian - Chaldean and Protestant schools in different categories were introduced. In addition, In addition, detailed information was given about the number of teachers and students, and was explained the aim of the schools. At preparation of the study, were used the various classifications of the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives and the State of Yearbooks, Yearbooks Diyarbakir province, the Ministry of Education Yearbooks, Diyarbakir Newspaper and various research works.
