    Narrative Text Writing Skills Assessment of Fifth Grade Students

  • Abstract
    The aim of this work is to evaluate the fifth grade elementary school students skills of writing narrative text. The research was carried out with 663 students who are in their 5th year in Eskişehir/Odunpazarı elementary schools. In order to collect datas, students were given a form which consists of three different sections. First section comprises of “Personal Information Details” which includes the datas of individual informations. The second section, “subject list”, is designed for students to decide their subjects in the research. The third section is consisted of empty pages for students to write thier narratives. In the analysis of the data, narrative elements rating scale which was designed in the abroad and translated into Turkish was used effectively. It is extrapolated from the research that students did not use narrative elements as it is desired. Moreover, it is understood that the skills for student to use narrative elements differentiated according to several variance.
