Abstract :
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of creative drama supported science education on the students’ academic achievements, misconceptions and attitutudes toward drama method. The sample of this study consists of total 23 freshmen from Ordu University, Faculty of Education, Department of Science Education. One experimental (n=12) and one control group (n=11) are assigned detachedly. In the study conducting with pretest - posttest control pattern, while the lecture was given with creative drama supported science education in the experimental group, in the control group it was given with common instruction approach. Data collection tool of the study includes concept test with three phases intented to the subject heat and temperature and students’ attitude scale about drama method. This tools were applied as pretest and posttest to the experimental and the control group at the beginning and the end of the research. Wilcoxon Signed Ranks and Mann-Whitney U tests were applied to the collecting data by SPSS 22 package software. It was meaningful on the side of the experimental group. It was observed that the experimental group’s misconceptions about the subject heat and temperature decreased more than the control group. Besides, it was found out that the change in the experimental group’s attitude toward drama method was statistically meaningful (p 0,05).
