POSITIVE EXTERNALITIES CAUSED BY CYCLING

World is witnessing ever increasing environmental, health and transportation related problems day by day. In fact it is a struggle to overcome them. While the use of bicycle is a simple tool for this aim, it provides a solution by the external benefits that it causes apart from the fact that it is an alternative to other transportation vehicles and by using bicycle it prevents the use of them as well as the benefits it provides to its producer and its owner. The aim of this study is the shed light over the question why the use of bicycle should be encouraged that though it is accessible to everyone, it still does not have the rate of usage that it deserves. Moreover, by putting forward the externalities that it provides to its seller and its buyer, the search for a simple solution for a better future is given. The fact that bicycle use is environmental, fun, cheap and accessible to everyone increases the significance of subject.
