POSSESSION LOSSES DURING TRAUMA AND SELF EROSION
Abstract :
According to the Extended Self Theory, selves may be extended in order to cover the possessions. Besides, traumatic events may also be affect the self. In this sense, the loss of possessions due to traumatic events may cause self-erosion. According to the relevant literature, self-erosion due to possession losses cause disconnection between past, present and future selves. In this study, the erosive effect of unexpected loss of possessions on self is evaluated. Within this context, the loss of Syrian refugees, occur after the developments that start in Syria in 2010 is the framework. The possible self-erosion due to this loss is the main research question.
