Abstract :
The research area is located in the Middle Blacksea Part, in the mountains zone between northern east Resadiye (Tokat) city centre and the southern Mesudiye (Ordu) city centre. This area is situated in the southerneast part of the Canik mountains and between 1500-2000 meters. In addition to the numerous dolines in this part, there are the karstic forms such as the lapies, ouvala, swallow holes and cave.In the research area, it is cold in winter, long and snowy, and it is warm, short and little rainy in summer. The bedrock is formed by the Upper Cretaceous limestones and their CaCO3 contents range between 75% and 88%. The research area exists completely within the forest area. However, some parts of the forest has been destroyed and because of the erosion the bedrock has appeared. In the formation of the karstic figures the dissolve process has played the main role in the study area. However, the fact that the bedrock is very largely cracked has had a considerable impact on the form of the karstic features, their order and density. Thus, the dolines which range in the eastern part of the research area in succession form the view of directed karst. The study area has been affected by the climate changes in Quaternary, and probably the higher parts have been exposed to periglacial conditions.Furthermore, the lavas which had been formed by fresh volcanic eruptions existing in the Quaternary have flowed into some dolines and changed their morphologies. This situation display the fact that karstification in the study area started before volcanic activities and has still been continuing today.
