Abstract :
This research, aims to determine ideas of social studies teachers about usage of equipment in social studies courses and implementation conditions of the equipment in the classroom. The research was designed in descriptive survey model and it was carried out with qualitative approach. The population of the study comprised social studies teachers working in Erzurum and 15 social studies teachers chosen randomly amongst them comprised the sampling of the study. Semi-structured interviews were used as a data collection tool. The data was analyzed with content analysis and the data obtained was presented in tables. The teachers’ views were presented in frequencies and percentages in tables. In this research, while choosing tools the teachers of the social studies use in lesson, it has been seen that they give importance to the criteria such as their connection to the subject, their suitability to the student level and their noticeability. It is came through that the all teachers who are interviewed with preparing the materials by themselves or with their students. It was determined that the most important difficulty that social sciences teachers experience while they are using materials results from the impracticality of them.
