Parents’ Anxiety For Their Visually Impaired Children’s Future
Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine parents’ anxiety and expectation who have visually impaired child for their children’ future. The study was carried out in qualitative nature through holistic multiple case study method. Participants of the study consisted of three parents with congenitally blind child living in Erzurum. The participating parents were selected on the basis of voluntary participation. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview protocol. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed by content analysis. Participants’ responses to interview questions were coded, categorized and themes were reached. The findings revealed that parents’ anxieties for children’s future were gathered under environment, education, employment themes and also parents have some expectations from the officials and the society. Finally, suggestions were made in order to reduce families concerns and sources of their anxieties
