Title Of Article :
Seasonal Condition Factors of Syngnathid Species Caugth from Aegean Sea Coasts
Abstract :
In this research, 1122 syngnathid fish samples (total fish size 1130) were obtained between 2002-2006 to examine the seasonal condition factors which were found in vegetated coasts of Aegean Sea. As a result of present study 4 pipefish species Syngnathus abaster (n=8), Synganthus acus (n=490), Syngnathus typhle (n=246), Nerophis ophidion (n=90) and 2 seahorse species Hippocampus hippocampus (n=53), Hippocampus guttulatus (n=243) were examined. Consequently, between pipefish species, minimum condition factor value were calculated in Nerophis ophidion (0.01) and maximum values in Synganthus acus (0.04). In seahorse species, minimum condition factor value were calculated Hippocampus hippocampus (0.41), maximum value was found in Hippocampus guttulatus (0.47). As a results of seasonal condition values, lowest values of condition factor were determined autumn and winter for pipefish species, but lowest values were calculated in spring for seahorse species. The condition factor values were significantly differientiaed by the season in S. typhle and S. acus (p 0.05), but values of condition in seahorse species were not significantly differentiated by season (p 0.05).
