Turkey research vessels technical specifications

Research vessels are the fundamental instruments for studies in major disciplines of oceanography such as physical and chemical oceanography, marine biology, fishery, marine geology and marine geophysics besides these disciplines research vessels are used for marine archeology as well. In our country, current situation of research vessels is insufficient and establishments which run those vessels are having financial and administrational problems. Foreign flagged research vessels have technically advanced than ours for that reason in case of need those vessels are used for researches in our seas. In this study, 21 national research vessels are inspected in terms of technical specifications, additionally by comparing USA and European research vessels fleet; it is argued competences and omissions of national research vessels, finally, it is determined basic technical specifications and design components of the research vessel that Turkey needs.
