Title Of Article :
Stomach contents of the Lesser Spotted Dogfish, (Scyliorhinus canicula (Linnaeus, 1758)) inhabiting Northeastern Mediterranean
Abstract :
In this study, stomach contents of 604 specimens of Scyliorhinus canicula (Linnaeus, 1758) obtained from the Northeastern Mediterranean between May 2012- March 2014 were examined to determine diet regime. 482 of the sampled fish (79.8%) had stomachs containing food. For each prey group, percentage numerical presence, percentage weight, frequency of occurrence and relative importance index (% IRI) values were calculated. The most important prey groups for S. canicula living in the Northeastern Mediterranean were Crustaceans and fishes (with IRI= 50.08% and IRI = 46.7% respectively). The second group was Cephalopods with IRI = 2.3 %. Spinculidae (IRI = 0.92%) was the rare prey group.
