Abstract :
The aim of this study is to analyze the subjective well-being of teenagers in relation to the variable of social-status-related risk taking. The sampling group consists of 874 high school students (456 girls, 418 boys). “Scale for Social Status-Related Risk Taking” and “Subjective Well-Being Scale (High School Form)” was administered. The results of the research reveal a reverse correlation between the social status-related risk taking levels of teenagers and their subjective well-being level; and that subjective well-being points vary according to their social-status related risk taking. That is, the subjective well-being points of students who take a high level of social status-related risks are lower than the subjective well-being points of students who take medium and low level of social-status related risks. With regard to gender, there was not a meaningful difference between the subjective well being points. The findings were discussed in light of literature in the field.
