مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - Development of the Workplace Forgiveness Scale and Opinions of Teachers on Workplace Forgiveness

Abstract :

The purpose of this study is to develop a workplace forgiveness scale, to carry out validity and reliability tests and identify various variables concerning workplace forgiveness of teachers, with the aim of identifying interpersonal forgiveness behaviours of teachers in the school they are employed. This research study uses the survey model method. The data for the research was collected from 650 public school (primary, secondary and high school) teachers assigned in the central province of Ankara in the 2014-2015 school year. Data from 605 of the participants was considered suitable for the analysis. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), item-total correlations, the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), t-test, ANOVA and descriptive statistics were used for the analysis of the data. The data was divided into two when analysing the data and an EFA was used for 305 data, a CFA was used for 300 data and statistical analyses were conducted on the EFA data. According to EFA results scale composed of 21 items and three factors. According to CFA results to validate the factor structure of the scale found that the fit indices were χ2= 400.94; p= 0.00, sd=186, χ2/sd = 2.15, IFI = .95, RFI = .90, RMR = .061, GFI = .89, AGFI = .86, CFI = .95, NNFI = .95, NFI = .91 and RMSEA = .062. According to the reliability analysis conducted for the scales, the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was on and above the border of .70, thus making the scale reliable. According the research findings showed no significant difference at any dimension according to the variables of sex, having children, marital status and level of income.
