Abstract
One of the first studies related to the dialects studied in Turkey was activity concerning the public dialects compilation launched under the auspices of Atatürk after the proclamation of the Republic in 1932. As a result of this two-year study the Söz Derleme Dergisi was published consisting of six volumes. The second compilation of studies carried out between 1952-1959 and later as a result of each review has been published in 12 volumes under the name Halk Ağzından Derleme Sözlüğü. The dialects studied cover the distance from the past to present and also thanks to technology new ones have been added to these ongoing studies. In this study, we have compiled some texts from the village of Arıkkuyusu of the Gulnar district of Mersin and the local dialect words still in use today are discussed.
