Idiopathic acquired unilateral diaphragmatic eventration: A case report

Abstract
Symptomatic acquired diaphragmatic eventration is an uncommon finding in the clinical settings. A 47-year- old man admitted to our clinic with the complaint of dyspnea occurring during exercise and in supine position for the last two months. Although his chest X-ray taken 20 days ago showed no abnormality, a right diaphragmatic eventration was detected on his current chest radiograph. No significant pathology explaining a recent unilateral diaphragmatic eventration was detected in ragiologic imaging studies of thoraco- abdominal and cervico-cranial regions. The patient has been followed up for two years with idiopathic acquired right diaphragmatic eventration and presented with a literature search due to this rare entity as a cause of dyspnea.
