Abstract :
In the context of awareness of conservation ecological balance and natural sources, the automotive industry has implemented significant changes based on reducing fuel consumption. Magnesium and its alloys attract attention as a lightweight, high strength and also reliable material in reducing fuel consumption. Magnesium is not only lightweight as a plastics material but also resistant as a metalic material. High pressure die casting of magnesium alloys is the fastest growing and the most developing sector in the magnesium part production industry. In this study, a general assessment that castability of magnesium alloys in the high pressure die casting and the moldability of high pressure die casting products was performed and the recent related studies was compiled. It is found that magnesium and its alloys are increasingly preferred material which has a good moldability behaviour in forming or manufacturing. On the other hand, it has been that increase products based on magnesium alloys in the automotive industry are directly related to the developing molding methods of magnesium alloys.
