Abstract :
The energy consumption level is one of the most important parameters indicating the economical and social developments of the countries. According to the potency of the renewable energy resources of Turkey, classical biomass energy and hydraulic energy are used most. Although the employment of the geothermal energy is ranked as the third, its use is limited. While the use of solar power is in a low level, the utilization of wind power gradually increases. The renewable energy resources will contribute both to the solution of the energy problem, and attaining a livable clean environment in our country. Nevertheless, the economic usability of the renewable energy resources in various sectors and the application method differ depending on the regional conditions. The main renewable energy resources which will be utilized efficiently are: solar energy, geothermal energy, biomass energy, and wind energy. In this study, the potency of the wind energy, which is one of the most important of the alternative energy resources has been researched, the last status of the wind power stations has been examined, and has been compared with the EU countries.
