Title Of Article :
Chitosan-Clay Bionanocomposites
Abstract :
Chitosan, which could be obtained abundantly from natural sources, is a suitable material for many applications in food, cosmetics agriculture, medical, paper and textile industries since it non-toxic, biodegradable, biocompatible, and superior to other biopolymers because of its chemical and physical properties. Modifying nanoparticles with biodegradable polymers yield to new and reinforced materials with drastically different properties while some inappropriate properties could be improved. This study investigates bionanocomposite preparing methods from biodegradable, non-toxic, abundant and obtained-from-edible-sources chitosan and sodium montmorillonite type clays (Na+MMT), which has been transformed into organoclay. These bionanocomposites have been characterized by various spectroscopic characterization methods for targeted applications, and detailed information as well as existing studies has been provided.
