Abstract :
Density, porosity, absorption water, ultrasonic pulse velocity, uniaxial compressive strength, flexural strength is important properties of rocks which are used as building stones. In this study, the physico-mechanical properties of four volcanic tuff rock types were determined in the laboratory and correlated with P-wave velocity. Test results were indicated by simple regression analysis, good correlations were found between physico-mechanical properties and P-wave velocity of the all tuff samples. The results show that the directly proportional decrease in porosity and water absorption by weight have some great significance in increase of the P-wave velocities while it rises with increasing density, uniaxial compressive strength and flexural strength data of the tested tuff stones. The best regression coefficient is obtained between P-wave velocities with density in the correlation coefficient of 0,895 for Döger tuff, with porosity 0,9798 for Döger tuff, with water absorption by weight 0,8555 for Ayazini tuff, with uniaxial compressive strength 0,9824 for Seyitgazi tuff.
