مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - The Relation of UCCE and Politics in the Period of Ali Coşkun s Presidential Term at UCCE

Abstract :

One can see that during the period between establishment of Turkish Union of Chambers and Exchange Commodities (TOBB) (6 February 1952) and Mehmet Yazar’s presidency of Turkish Union of Chambers (27 May 1979) Democratic Party and Justice Party dominated the Union of Chambers. During Mehmet Yazar’s presidency period of TOBB (27 May 1979 – 4 April 1985) relationship between TOBB and Mother Land Party (ANAP) became problematic, and in contrast to the previous periods the TOBB became an independent foundation and gained significant contributions in being a group of interest and reached a substantial economical power. In Ali Coskun’s presidency period of TOBB (4 June 1986 – 30 May 1990), on the other hand, one might see that ANAP dominated the TOBB, and TOBB lost its independence and couldn’t make significant proceedings in being a group of interest. In the same period, ANAP government made steps in direction of requests from the TOBB. As in the previous periods, during Ali Coskun’s presidency period a lot of people entered policy from the central-right parties (ANAP and True Path Party, DYP). Aim of the present study was to discuss the relationship between political power and Union of Chambers during Ali Coskun’s presidency period of TOBB and Ali Coskun’s presidency period’s differences from and similarities with the previous periods.
