Abstract :
This research was carried out to determine effects of chemicals and plant growth regulators on polen germination and tube growth in almonds selected in Isparta province. In the study 11 almond genotypes were used (ISP9, ISP52, ISP57, ISP59, ISP80, ISP127, ISP196, ISP198, ISP231 ISP241 and ISP298). Control medium contained %0.5 agar-agar + %15 sucrose + 5 ppm boric acid medium and potassium nitrate (50 ppm), thioure (50 ppm), benzyladenine (5ppm) and gibberellic acid (10 ppm) solutions were added to germination medium. The effects of minerals and plant growth regulators on pollen germination and tube growth were found significant compared to control medium. Gibberellic acid and Potassium nitrate were determined as promoter while thioure and benzyladenine had inhibitory effect on both pollen germination and tube growth. ISP57 and ISP298 genotypes were found promising in terms of pollen performance.
