Determination of Some Physiological Characters in Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)
Abstract :
The experiment was conducted at research and experimental areas of Konya Bahri DagdasInternational Agricultural Research Institute. In the experiment, studying growth of alfalfa plants untilthe first cutting especially considering physiological characters were aimed. In the study Kayseri,Bilensoy, Elçi ve Savas alfalfa cultivars were used. Growth analysis was made until first cutting. Theresearch was conducted as randomized block design with three replications. Two kilograms ofNitrogen per decare and 5 kg of Phosphorus per decare were applied at sowing. Sampling of plantsstarted in March and lasted until first week of May. While Leaf area (LAR) increased over the time inall varieties, leaf area index (LAI), leaf growth rate (LGR) and relative growth rate (LGR) decreased.
