Flock Age and Duration of Hatching Egg Storage of Japanese Quails: 1. Effectson Thick Albumen Characteristics

The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of flock age and storage duration on thick albumen characteristics (albumen height, Haugh Unit, Internal Quality Unit (IQU) and albumen pH) in Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). The effects of flock age (8, 12, 18, 25 and 30th weeks), storage duration (0, 1, 4 and 7th days), and incubational exposure time (0, 6, 24, 30 and 48th hours) were investigated. Effects of flock age, storage duration and incubational exposure time in setter on albumen height, albumen pH, Haugh Unit and IQU were found significant among treatment groups.
