Title Of Article :
A Note on the Change of Tochoperol Content in Rapeseed with Sulphur Fertilization
Abstract :
Tocopherols are naturally occurring compounds in rapeseed and have important health benefits owing to their antioxidant and vitamin E activity. Enhancing tocopherol concentration would positively affect the quality of rapeseed oil. There has been a limited amount of research on the effects of sulphur fertilization on rapeseed. This study aimed to investigate the effect of sulphur on the concentration and composition of tocopherol compounds in rapeseed. In the field trial, two different doses of fertilization (S1:24 kg da N + 10 kg da S, S2: 24 kg da N + 20 kg da S) were applied along with the control (S0: 24 kg da N) onto five rapeseed genotypes, and data were collected on total oil concentration as well as the tocopherol concentrations in the oil. Data indicated a significant fertilization effect on tocopherol compounds, except for delta-tocopherol. Genotype was not a significant source of tocopherol variation. Results of this study suggest different doses of sulphur application may have favorable effects on tocopherol concentration in rapeseed.
