Title Of Article :
Predicting Of Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity Values Of Soils With Pedotransfer Functions
Abstract :
Known of water movement into soil that a porous media with three-phase gives important clues about character of S-matrix. Water directly affects on soil physicochemical properties thus, measuring of water conductivity into soil is extremely important. Under laboratory conditions, cumbersome saturated hydraulic conductivity tests conducted by using Mariotte bottle which is usually time-consuming and tedious for researchers. The objective of this study was to predict of saturated vertical hydraulic conductivity values (Ks) of soils with pedotransfer functions (PTFs) generated by some basic soil physical properties and water constants. For this purpose, twenty-five surface soil samples (0-15 cm depth) were collected from Kahramanmaras-Narli Plain. Routine soil properties, water constants and Ks were measured. Then, the data set was statistically evaluated and PTFs were generated by multiple linear regression method to estimate Ks. In order to compare the measured Ks values by traditional method and predicted Ks values with generated PTFs, determination coefficient (R^2) was used, and the highest R^2 was obtained as 0.846. The results of this research pointed out that generated pedotransfer models can be used with the aim of predicting Ks in Kahramanmaras-Narli Plain.
