Abstract :
The aim of the study was to present some information on the region s social and economic structure by addressing the socio-demographic characteristics of Yagcilar, Ilegi and Hisarardi villages which is located in Mediterranean region, Yalvac district in Isparta province. In the context of the study, the demographic structure of the village, the information on residence, social and domestic life of the individuals, and the main issues of the villages were discussed. The material of the study consisted of data collected from 70 households in Yagcilar, Ilegi and Hisarardi villages with survey method. As a result of the research, the participants mostly took place in the 22-30 age group according to the distribution of age groups. Farming and workmanship took the first and second places respectively in the professional distribution of the individuals who were mostly married and high school graduate. The number of participants whose income level was between 800-1500 TL was quite high. The share of registered individuals to the Social Security Authority and Social Security Organisation for Artisans and the Self-employed was up to 85%. According to the research findings, the relationship between gender and income levels was statistically significant while there was no statistically significant difference between age groups, education status and income levels in the study area. When considered the relation between age, gender and profession, it was found that almost all the workers fell within the 22-30 age group, and farmers were usually male and in the 31-40 age group. Also, it was concluded that female individuals in the 22-30 age group were generally single when the relationship between age, gender and marital status was examined.
