Abstract :
The aim of the study, 2014, was to determine the concentration of the main phenols in the leaves of 14 apple rootstocks which has different growth vigour. These are P.16, P.22, M.9, B.469, O.3, Mac.9, M.26, Pi.80, M.7, M.2, B.118, MM.111, M.25 and A.2. The samples of leaves were taken the middle part of the shoots in July. High-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) technique was used to quantify the phenols: gallic acid, ferulic acid, p-coumaric acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, quercetin and phloridzin. The contents of on phenolic components were affected by the rootstock. According to data the gallic acid was between 0.796 (P.16) and 88.536 (O.3) mg/kg FW; the 4- hydroxbenzoic acid was between 24.28 (B.469) and 202.13 (M.7) mg/kg FW; the p-cumaric acid was between 62.35 (M.9) and 181.15 (M.26) mg/kg FW; the ferulic acid was between 5.21 (M.25) and 35.59 (P.22) mg/kg FW; the phloridzin was between 20.41 (M.9) and 149.59 (M.26) mg/kg FW and the quercetin was between 11.56 (B.469) and 61.33 (M.2) mg/kg FW. Considering the total amount of phenolic compounds investigated the leaves of M.26 and M.2 rootstocks had the highest polyphenolic concentration in total, while the leaves of B.469 and M.9 rootstocks had the lowest. There was no a significant relationship between the components of phenolic and growth vigour.
