Abstract
In this study, the thermodynamic analysis is carried out for a single effect, LiBr-H2O working fluid pair, solar assisted absorption cooling system. Absorption cooling systems consumes less electricity rather than vapor compression systems. Due to this property, absorption cooling systems have a vital importance for energy sustainability. It is expected that, in the buildings, by the commissioning of absorption cooling systems instead of vapor compression systems will be a very big contribution for energy efficiency and sustainability. However, a heat source is a necessity for the using of this systems. Heat can be obtained by solar energy, geothermal energy and heat recovery. Additionally, natural gas, which is cleaner, can be used to produce steam if all other alternative energies cannot be used. In this study, thermodynamic analysis of a solar assisted single effect absorption system is done. The coefficient of performance (COP) and the exergetic COP are found 0,71 and 0,17 respectively for the given design conditions. The heat transfer areas are found for evaporator, absorber, generator and condenser 19,8 m^2, 10,3 m^2, 5,9 m^2 ve 3,7 m^2 respectively.
