Abstract :
Aims of this study are to measure residual/permanent stresses by using hole drilling technique with H-Drill stress analyzer program and to calibrate the strain-gauges. For these purposes, two types of rosette strain gauges (RSGs) with different D0/D ratio, according to ASTM standards or not, were applied to steel tensile plate which had different cross-sectional areas. Axial tensile forces of 30, 45 and 60 kN were applied the plate by means of horizontal tensile press and then generated stresses in the plate were measured. However, permanent stresses created by axial tensile force of 60 kN in different cross-sections of steel plate were determined. During the measuring of axial tensile stresses, similar stress values were generated by two different types of RSGs and these values were close the theoretical stress values. Permanent stress results indicated that stress values generated with standard RSGs were near theoretical values. However, low accuracy of measurement and lower stress value of 36MPa were determined by using non-standard RSGs. On the other hand, in spite of increasing or decreasing at permanent stress, variation in the stress found was approximately the similar values.
