Title Of Article :
DESIGN, MANUFACTURING AND PERFORMANCE TESTS OF A STIRLING ENGINE WITH RHOMBIC DRIVE MECHANISM
Abstract :
In this study, a beta type Stirling engine having rhombic drive mechanism was designed, manufactured and tested. Due to the lower side thrust and vibration and more silent operation, rhombic drive mechanism was preferred and the engine was designed as beta type. The tests were conducted at different air and helium charge pressures using a LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) burner. The tests of the engine were conducted at 350 °C and 450 °C hot end temperatures of the displacer cylinder. Speed-torque and speed-power characteristics of the engine were investigated. The maximum power and torque obtained were 95.77 W at 575 rpm speed and 1.98 Nm at 410 rpm speed, respectively, at 450 ºC hot-end temperature, 2 bar charge pressure and helium as working fluid.
