Abstract
In this study, electrochemical machining (ECM), an advanced metal processing method that has not found application in Turkey, has been investigated. A new ECM device was developed by customizing a threedimensional CNC machine for electro-chemical applications and integrating it with pulsed DC power supply, servo motor control system that provides vertical gap control, electrolyte vacuum, purification and recycle system. Controlled operation of the system within desired limits was achieved by correct design of the cathode tool, effective adjustment of the vertical gap between the anode and the cathode, accurate control of electric current and voltage values, and masking the surface of the electrodes. It was found that keeping the electrolyte concentration constant was necessary for the system stability.
