THE ORDOLIBERALIST ECONOMIST – PHILOSOPHER IN TURKEY: ALEXANDER RUSTOW (1885-1963)

Alexander Rüstow who worked in Turkey between 1933-1949 years and he is an economist-philosopher prosocial market economy. The topic of Rüstow draws attention due to lack of interest as a subject of study in Turkey since 1963. The aim of this paper, basing on Rüstow’s studies, is to introduce and evaluate the interdisciplinary perspective of Rüstow which related to history of thoughts and economic mentality. This study were brought the limitation about Rüstow’s studies which written by under the framework of Istanbul University and translated into Turkish. According to the findings of works analyzed, it was determined to important contributions of Rüstow in the field of economic mentality and thought of social market economy.
