A COMPARISON OF ORAL PERFORMANCE TASKS PREPARED USING MOBILE PHONES WITH TRADITIONAL WRITTEN PERFORMANCE TASKS
Abstract :
This study aims at comparing the performance tasks prepared by using mobile phones and traditional paper-pencil ones in terms of their effect on students’ learning the grammar subject studied in the lesson. A total of 112 8th graders were involved in this control group pre-test-post-test study. The analysis of the data revealed no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the control group, while the difference was significant between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of experimental group in favor of the post-test, and between post-test mean scores of the control and experiment groups in favor of the latter. It is concluded that mobile phones can be used more effectively in performance tasks, compared to traditional paper-pencil based ones.
