Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to develop the Turkish Consciousness Scale and to analyze the validity and reliability of the scale. The research has been carried out among 849 university students studying in Sakarya University, Faculty of Education. In the research, structural validity was implemented for the validity studies, and internal consistency and item-total correlations was implemented for the reliability studies. As a result of the factor analysis, 17 points gathered under three factors, which are named as “individual usage”, “the importance of unity of the country”, and “correct usage of Turkish in mass media”, and which indicate the 50,8% of the total variance. Relying on the findings obtained, it was concluded that Turkish Consciousness Scale is a valid and reliable measuring instrument that can be utilized in the education/training fields.
