Abstract :
The aim of the study is to find out the reading habits of 4th and 5th grade students in primaryeducation. The sample of the study consists of 718 sub, 432 medium and 234 students withhigh socio-economic status. From the total of 1384 students, 712 were fourth grade and 672were fifth grade students. Obtained by questionnaire form, the data was entered into SPSSprogramme. Percentage and frequency distribution tables were used for datum analyze,frequency distributions were tested by chi-square test in the 0,05 significance level. At the endof this study, it has been found out that 4th and 5th grade students mostly like reading in theirfree time, most of them have bookcases of their own at home, studying for the lessons andexaminations prevent them from reading. Besides, it has been found out that there aredifferences in reading habits among the students according to their socio-economic status.
