AN EVALUATION OF THE DIVERSITY OF EXAMPLESPRESENTED IN TEACHING BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVESCONCEPT IN COGNITIVE DOMAIN IN THE TEACHINGOBJECTIVES UNIT
Abstract :
This study evaluates diversity of behavioural objective examples regarding “cognitive domain”. The dataobtained from the study which was conducted with three instructors were collected through observation -a qualitative research method- and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. An analysis of theresults as a whole indicates that examples presented by the instructors include all the learning levels ofcognitive domain. Besides, the presented examples were found not to contain variety in terms of theirnon-distinguishing features; the mostly identified content type was principle; not all the content elementscomposing the content types were exemplified; there were no examples that encompassed a single contenttype in high levels such as analysis, synthesis and evaluation; there were many examples thatencompassed more than one content type; the distribution of learning levels on content types showed thatthere were accumulations in some areas. The problems identified in the present study are suggested to besolved by benefiting from contemporary knowledge in the educational sciences literature and workingwith experts in the field.
