The book of Mardî al-Tarsûsî entitled ‚Tabsirat Arbâb al-Albâb fî Kayfiyyat al-Najât fi’l-Hurûb‛ was written in the period of Ayyubids and it is presented to Salâh al-Din al-Ayyubi. It is a source that gives information about arms that were used in Medieval Islamic armies and war tactics. The source is formed of two basic chapters that tell arms, war tactics and methods. In the source, each of the arms are told detailly with all of sides from manufacturing to using. The methods and tactics that are unknown about manufacturing some arms and chemicals like catapult till that day, are told firstly in this source. The explaining of this information with drawings, descriptions, engineering information and calculatings amazingly, shows that the Islamic World was a good position in the fields of science and technology in the 12th century.
