Title Of Article :
An Evaluation of Prospective Physics and Maths Teachers’ Self-Efficacy Beliefs Toward Physics
Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to find out prospective physics and mathematics teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs level towards physics through their mean scores. The participants consisted of 35 first year and 32 last year (Year 5) students studying physics education and 34 first year and 33 last year studens studying mathematics education department of Ziya Gökalp Education Faculty at Dicle University. For this aim, “Self-Efficacy Belief Scale” was used. The data gathered from scale were analysed by factor analysis, arithmetic means, frequency, standart deviation, standart error, and independent t-test. The results indicated that the self efficacy beliefs mean score of physics last year students compared with the first year students during their study increased. The statistically meaningful difference found for Physics students could not be found for Math students. In order to increase physics students’ self-efficacy beliefs, educators should take necessary cognitive and affective precautions.
