Abstract
In this study, the relationship among the variables of the need for social approval in university students, self-construals, perfectionism, social anxiety, and happiness were examined. This study was conducted with 287 students at Amasya University, School of Health Service at 2013-2014 Fall semester. In the study, Need For Social Approval Scale, Social Anxiety Scale, Multi-dimensional Perfectionism Scale, Communitarian - Relational -Individualistic Self-construals Scale, and Oxford Happiness Scale were used. The findings showed that social anxiety, communitarian self construal and self directed perfectionism significantly predicted need for social approval. The need for social approval does not show a meaningful difference in terms of gender and order of birth. Need for social approval show a meaningful difference in terms of grade levels.
